I now have new knowledge that should enable me to get unstuck and reduce ths average to a healthier result.

Day 7 of my 60 Day Sugar Only Diet

As I complete week one of my experiment, here are my learnings:

1) What I was eating to achieve insulin sensitivity was really causing me to be stuck at a particular level of insulin resistance (95 to 105 trsting blood sugar scores). I now have new knowledge that should enable me to get unstuck and reduce ths average to a healthier result.

2) I learned that I was overdoing clean sources of fat in my regular diet. Too much avocado, macadamia nuts, extra virgin olive oil, etc. When I come off of this sugar only diet/fast, I’ll have to develop a good solid plan for reincorporating these healthy sources of fat when this is done.

3) Healthy sugars from non-processed sources like fruit can positively impact insulin sensitivity and are not to be completely avoided. This runs counter to about 90% of the information being pumped out by health gurus on the Internet.

4) Absorbing healthy sugars can provide insane amounts of energy and mental acuity.

5) Going for a walk after meals high in sugar, or any carbs for that matter, is very good for overall health & the best remedy for quickly working your way through a blood sugar spike besides bot earing it at all. I’m strongly considering incorporating this as a best practice moving forward.

6) I have found that a Cold plunge lowers blood sugar by 5 to 10 points, increases energy, reduces inflammation and continues to have other benefits for hours after. I do it first thing every morning followed by exercise.

7) After purchase, most fruits have a shelf life of about 5 days, so its best to shop for fruit every 3 days rather once a week if you want your items to remain remain fresh and taste their best.

8 ) Strength training combined with a healthy diet is a winning formula as we age. I will admit that I don’t love it, but I am finally ready to admit that its a best practice, and one worth committing to moving forward.

9) Protein after strength training is still a best practice for building and maintaining lean muscle. This is why Chris allows me to consume a lean protein after my 4 pm strength training work outs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for dinner.

10) AI generated health videos cannot be fully trusted because they get their information from the overall Internet, which I have learned is wrong about 50% of the time when it comes to dispensing health advice. This is especially the case on advice that attempts to dispense one-size-fits-all information.

I hope you guys are enjoying my documentation of this unique journey. One week down and seven to go!

P.S.- dropped another pound since yesterday so stoked on that result! I am down to 226! 16 pounds till I achieve my goal of 210. this will be 3 pounds below whay my 40-day water only fast achieved!

Key lesson: Week one learnings arrive before the story is finished.

Summary: Day 7: completes week one; shares learnings from the experiment.
