My goal weight is a very healthy 210 but happy to return to the 220’s!

Day 5 of My 60 Day Sugar Only Diet

More incredible results before I went to bed last night. Blood sugar clocked in at 86 before bed despite eating, nothing but sugar all day long. I also definitely felt leaner throughout the day. My energy levels continue to be through the roof. I was also able to get to bed earlier and sleep a full nine hours nine hours.

I was excited to weigh in this morning cause I could literally feel a transformation in my physique yesterday. I was rewarded with a pound and a half weight loss down to 228.8 lbs. I started this diet at Saturday at 233.5 lbs so nice progress in just 5 days. My goal weight is a very healthy 210 but happy to return to the 220’s!

Christopher Kidawski and I discussed the results from my first four days of this experiment. Our biggest conclusion is that fat intake was the problem for me. When I combine fat with sugar, it taxes my body’s metabolic system too much. Consistently scoring a 99 (on the cusp of pre-diabetes) was the red flag.

While fruit intake is the highlight of this journey, the game changer has actually been the temporary removal of fat from my diet. We’ve only grounded protein for the sake of the experiment and so my body has an easier time processing what I am putting in it. It is not our intention to remove either forever.

So, you might be asking what my fat intake was like prior to this fast. Well, I was watching a lot of online videos from healthy men in their 50’s who say they became shredded by eating either strict Keto or Carivore Diets. Photos below are of some of the more famous ones. I figured, hard to argue with results!

Most all claimed that intermittent fasting till noon, followed by a first meal of steak, a couple eggs and half an avocado was how they stayed lean, ripped and satiated. I was also consuming a lot of organic. So I did this religously every other day for six months. It became my new lifestyle.

I did however only eat carivore every other day. Chris wanted me to incorporate fruits and fibers for optimum health, which I did. Believe it or not, he is not a fan of long-term diets that preclude important food groups that are necessary for a healthy gut biome.

My results from eating this popular way were mixed. On the one hand, I felt great every day! I really enjoyed the overall food experience cause who doesn’t love devouring a perfectly cooked steak? Well, other than my dear friend and lifelong vegan Patrick Combs! Also, for the first time in my life, I enjoyed shopping for food, food prep, and cooking. These were huge gains!

The downsides were that the distention in my belly area, that I had successfully eliminated from my 40-day water only waterfast, slowly began to come back. I had lost two shirt sizes, and all of a sudden, my XL shirts were getting super snug.

Also, after a couple months of my weight being very stable in the low 220’s after achieving a low of 213 pounds via my fast,

it started to creep up into the low 230’s and culmiinatind in a dreaded weigh in one day in April at 239! This all happened while I was in Hawaii helping to run the hotel and my other property.

This is when I decided to take massive action. Step one was to move back to Miami where I have the best healthy habits. Two, was to restart those healthy habits on a daily basis. Three was to hire a trainer to incorporate strength training into my regiment (a big missing component). Fourth, was to reengage with Chris to reassess my diet and come up with a solution to the issues I was having.

This all brought me to our experiment and today. I hope you are enjoying following this journey.

Key lesson: Early wins fuel unconventional experiments.

Summary: Day 5: blood sugar at 8x before bed; more incredible results.
