Day 3 of 60 Day Sugar Only Diet
I was very curious to see what my blood sugar score would be on the morning of Day 3. Why? Well, a few interesting things happened yesterday in my lead up to the measurement.
First, I achieved a level of mental acuity yesterday that quite frankly, I have not felt before. I also retained the super high level of energy achieved the night before at the conclusion of Day 1.
Combining these two superpowers delivered one of the most creatively productive days of writing that I have ever experienced. I will save this for a future post. Too good to be an antidote to this story! 💪
Second, after banging out six straight hours of some of the best creative writing that I have ever done, it was 7 pm and I started to feel a little flush. I had a warm sensation in my face. I don’t know if this was from the emotion of what I was writing, or from all the sugar I had consumed all day.
I decided that it might be wise to test my blood sugar to see if the data would reveal anything interesting. It did indeed! I clocked a 142! A new personal worst since my water-only fast in Oct-Dec. for those keeping score at home, clocking anything above a 140 after eating indicates prediabetes.
Give that my health advChristopher Kidawskiawski warned me that this would happen, I did not panic. Instead, I took advantage of my high level of child like energy. I threw on my work out gear, despite having already worked out all morning, and got to it!
I went for a brisk 45-minute walk outside. Not as fast paced as on night one, but still faster than usual. Upon returning, I decided to recheck my blood sugar. I can’t wait for the continue glucose monitor to arrive in the mail this week so I can dispense with all the finger torture!
I assumed that my blood sugar would be lower by about 10 points due to the exercise. Nope! It rang in at a wonderful 85!
Dang, that’s interesting data I thought. I texted Chris to share the news. We were both impressed at how rapid my body processed the sugar in my system and returned my blood sugar to…..well…..better than my usual normal of 99.
I decided to keep the party going, and went for a second cold plunge before bed. I have been dabbling with this lately because I find that it drops my blood sugar significantly before bed, leading to better scores the following morning. I don’t go as long as I do in the mornings, given how long it takes to thaw out without the benefit of the sun!
Noting how low my blood sugar already was last night after exercise (85), I thought it would be interesting to put my newfound theory to the test.
Boy was I right! After just an 8-minute cold plunge, I achieved a new personal best - a 79! Woohoo! Holy crap, that felt good! Quite a breakthrough.
Only problem was, I was so jacked from having such an epic day that going to sleep was going to be an issue. My fears came true but two benefits were that I finished a novel I started just the day before and slept like a baby once I finally did fall asleep!
In conclusion, Day 2 was likely as close to a scene from the movie/book “Limitless” than I have experienced. We shall see what today brings, my first work day feasting on sugar only!
So far its starting well with a resting blood sugar score of 93! I also lost two pounds!
Chris sent me the image below to guide my sugar intake. Its worth sharing. “S” is safest and then “A” is better than “B” and so forth.
Chris also approved these melatonin gummies to help reduce my energy levels at bed time. Of coarse, they have sugar! 👀
