I’ve always followed desire.
Not trends.
Not money.
Not ego.
Desire.
If I feel it strongly enough, I become inspired and move toward it. And when I move toward something & commit, things tend to expand.
Years ago when I started University of Dreams, people told me that what I created couldn’t be replicated anywhere else. At least not simultaneously.
They said it was too unique.
Too dependent on me.
And therefore, too hard to scale.
They were wrong.
We built 17 programs around the world because we focused on standards, not personality.
From that experience, I learned that when standards are clear, they travel. I also discovered a new word - cookie cutter!
As I’ve always been a raving fan of cookies (chocolate chip are my jam), I intuitively understood the concept of a cookie cutter. Each new program in an expansion city became a cookie made from the same proven dough. I used the same strategies, techniques and instruments for their replication. The result was my most successful company of my career. 😎
Lately, I’ve been feeling that same pull again.
Not toward “more.” Toward elevation.
Toward taking something we already do exceptionally well at my properties in Hawaii - culinary excellence, extraordinary settings, real connection, true restoration -
and asking a better question:
What if this wasn’t just one place?
What if it was a standard that could exist in multiple extraordinary destinations without losing its soul?
I’m not making an announcement yet. But I will say this:
When desire shows up like this, I’ve learned not to ignore it. Instead, I’ve learned to construct an enticing path to a Magic Doorway where a simple choice can be made. To go for it or not!
This is exactly where I am in this precise moment.
