For most of my life, I believed growth meant doing more.
More deals.
More opportunities.
More momentum.
Lately, I’ve realized something different. The real leverage in life isn’t volume. It’s standards.
Over the last couple of years, especially this past year, I’ve quietly raised mine. I no longer actively participate in environments that don’t elevate me. I no longer tolerate average when excellence is possible. I no longer pursue opportunities unless they create that unmistakable feeling in the first ten minutes… awe.
The feeling when you walk into a place and think,
“I can’t believe this exists.” or
“I can’t believe I get to be here.”
I’ve come to understand that environment shapes identity more than willpower ever will. You don’t rise to your goals. You rise to your surroundings.
So instead of asking, “What’s the next deal?” I’ve been asking a different questions:
“What standards am I willing to build around?”
The answer has become very clear to me.
Fewer.
Better.
Extraordinary.
I’m building something new around this principle - something that reflects the highest standard I’ve ever operated at. It’s the most aligned I’ve felt in a long time.
More soon.
