Transformation doesn’t begin with action. It begins with awareness.
My strength trainer has helped countless people lose over 50+ pounds throughout his career as a health coach. As many of you know, I’ve spent nearly seven years as a personal development coach and have been mentoring and inspiring others for decades.
We often compare notes, diving into what really moves people from stuck to unstoppable, whether the goal is physical health or lifelong dreams.
Today, he shared something powerful.
He said, “When I meet a new client, I ask them three simple questions:
1️⃣ What do you want most out of life, and why?
2️⃣ Who do you spend most of your time with, and do they support that vision?
3️⃣ What are you doing right now for your health?
Their answers tell me everything I need to know about their readiness to transform.”
As he spoke, I was instantly transported back through decades of coaching conversations from the years co-coaching with my incredible business partner Patrick Combs to the many deep moments I’ve had with mentees over the years. I then shared something I’ve discovered through all of that experience:
People don’t start making real progress until they understand why they’re stuck.
That moment of truth, the one where someone finally faces what’s been holding them back, is where the journey truly begins.
Without it, they’ll hit wall after wall:
Belief issues.
Lack of courage.
False starts that lead to guilt, shame, and a defeated mindset.
But when someone finds the courage to confront the root of their resistance, everything changes. That’s when commitment ignites. That’s when transformation takes hold.
If you’ve been struggling to move forward, maybe start by asking yourself those same three questions. Then take a deeper look inward to uncover what’s really been in the way.
That awareness is the beginning of freedom. And freedom is where your new story begins.
