💪 From 3 to 11: The Push-Up Plot Twist I Didn’t See Coming
About a week ago, after a savage upper body workout, my trainer threw one last curveball at me:
“Drop into push-up position and go to failure.”
Cool, I thought. Easy enough… until I actually got into position.
Before I could even attempt my first rep, he started adjusting everything:
“Move your hands. Flatten your back. Engage your core. Tuck your elbows. Lower your hips…”
Basically, he turned a basic push-up into a full-on body mechanics lesson. 😂
Finally, I gave it a go and managed three push-ups. Just three. But you know what? That was three more than I’d ever remembered being able to do before, and they were clean, real, hard-earned reps. That was a win.
Then came the challenge:
“Every morning, do push-ups to failure upon waking. No matter what. Just show up and push.” And he set the bar: 20 push-ups by October 15, just before I leave for Europe.
Game on.
Fast forward to this morning… I drop down, feeling decent but not expecting miracles and suddenly I crank out 11 push-ups in a row! 🤯
Just yesterday, my max was 7.
Progress doesn’t always come in big leaps, but sometimes, it does. And when it does, you realize what’s really been growing all along: your discipline, your belief, and your momentum.
One rep at a time. The goal is 20. But today, I’m celebrating 11. More than halfway there ! 🙌
