Time freedom was my greatest goal…until I discovered something even more powerful.
A few years ago, I reached what I believed was the pinnacle of success: time freedom.
No alarm clock. No packed calendar. No scheduled meetings. No one else dictating how I spent my hours.
It filled me with joy, and at the time, I was certain, it was my greatest achievement.
But I was wrong.
Time freedom is beautiful. I still treasure it, and I don’t plan on giving it up. But it taught me three lessons I’ll never forget
1) Time freedom was always available to me.
I had convinced myself it only came after financial freedom. That’s the trap of linear thinking—believing life has to unfold in a certain order. It doesn’t.
2) My mindset mattered as much as my money. Many won’t believe this. I understand, I wouldn’t have either. But I can tell you with certainty: the beliefs I held shaped my reality just as much as my bank account.
3) Time and money are not enough.
Without mental peace and physical health, even total freedom can feel like a gilded cage. The emotions that come with this are not so different from those who feel stuck in jobs, debt, or burnout.
This is why I began a presence practice two years ago. And why today, I devote nearly 3 hours a day, almost 20% of my waking life to nurturing my mind and body.
Too much? Too little? That’s not for anyone else to decide. The real question is:
Are you investing your time in the person you’re becoming, or just spending it?
We all invest in something. Some invest in time. Others, in growth. Some in comfort. And many, in distraction or escape.
There’s no shame in any of it. But only one question matters:
Is your investment getting you closer to the life you truly want?
