What are your go-to's when you feel mentally stuck? I know mine very well and feel called to share them with you. There are five total.
1) I seek time alone to eliminate distractions so I can hear the whispers of my Soul. I need to quiet my Ego enough to hear that gold.
2) I share with my wife that I am stuck - as hiding being stuck is a recipe for staying that way. I believe this is important to do with the loved one you are closest to, otherwise your mood or actions can easily be misinterpreted. This can also rob you of the support or acceptance that you need most while seeking answers & clarity. My wife Lori Lochtefeld is always supportive of this need when called upon. She is also a great problem solver, so that is incredibly helpful as well.
3) I reach out to my trusted friends for wisdom, advice or just to brainstorm or share. I have three go-to's. If what I share below inspires you to reflect on who your go-to's are, or maybe you want to develop a new one, I can share this pearl of wisdom. What all three have in common is that they all know my entire life story. I don't have to waste any time on back stories on how I arrived at being stuck. We can just get into the perceived problem at hand. I love that about these three friendships.
* Patrick Combs is my go-to on all major life changes, bliss journey's or dream pursuits. He never fails to help me gain clarity when I need it most. It is as if he has a mirror into my Soul that he can whip out for me without fail. He dulls out Clarity like I dispense Inspiration.
* I also reach out to **Chris Duggan**, cause quite honestly, he is the best listener and most empathetic person I know. Sometimes we just need a chance to share our jumbled mixed-up "stuck" thoughts without judgement. Chris is that guy for me.
* Finally, I seek advice from my longest running friend **Phil Jones**. He started as my mentor & was my first (and only) boss back in my early 20's. He went on to become one of my very best friends over the decades. Phil is a true Renaissance Man if there every was one.
* My Dad was always another major go to but in recent years he has been battling dementia, so he has been retired from this role for close to a decade now. I miss his steady hand as he is the best man that I have ever known. I still learn from him in so many ways though. He just does everything better. Even dementia. It's so inspirational to have a front row seat to his amazing life.
4) I turn to my tested and proven "decision making process", which I have written about in this group before. Do you have one of these? If not, I highly recommend developing one. Mine takes about a week to complete and I trust it with all major life choices.
5) Finally, when clarity is arrived at, I make a commitment to my solution to becoming "unstuck" and its Game On from there on!
I chose this share today both to inspire myself and some of you that may be similarly stuck and seeking answers/clarity. I am working my way through some familiar stuckness that I have always successfully navigated through in the past. It sure does help to have a map.
