Timeless
My focus will be on sharing all the tools I learned this year in one key area - the reduction of unnecessary suffering.

“I didn’t know rock bottom had a basement!”

I heard this line yesterday. It was uttered by a fictional character in a hospital after she ended up seriously wounded after a string of bad decisions. It is hands down the most memorable line that I’ve heard in a very long time. I have spent a lot of time thinking about it since.

While I am grateful that I have not experienced anything close to a ‘rock bottom’ in a few decades, I do have memories of some rather unpleasant periods of my life in my late twenties where I may have felt this way.

How are you feeling as we head into a new year? Are you struggling? Do you feel a bit hopeless?

If your answer to any of these questions is yes, I am hopeful that some of my posts in the year ahead will inspire you to feel better. My focus will be on sharing all the tools I learned this year in one key area - the reduction of unnecessary suffering. That will be my main theme heading into 2023!

Key lesson: Suffering can be reduced with tools — and he commits his 2023 writing to teaching them.

Summary: A 'rock bottom had a basement' line prompts his 2023 theme: reducing unnecessary suffering.
