Timeless
Fear, doubt and resistance are really good at their jobs producing limiting beliefs, but you can counter them by producing empowering beliefs.

Everyone in this group has likely set a goal or two in your lives. They likely range from small to bodacious. I’m a big goal guy too, but this year I approached my goals differently. I set micro-goals that my mind accepted as achievable.

For instance, I wanted to lose 60 pounds this year. When I first contemplated this goal, it felt heavy and super difficult. It brought up all kinds of negative emotions. I took stock of these thoughts and quickly surmised that my mind was already throwing in the towel of defeat. This would likely cause me to quit at some point.

Instead of watching all the Rocky movies to fire up enough determination to willpower my way to this goal, I calmly approached it another way. I asked myself - how can I achieve this goal in a way I’ll believe I can do it? This helped me figure out that I needed a winning strategy.

I decided that instead of writing down the bodacious goal of losing sixty pounds this year, I would lose five pounds a month for all twelve months. Even though both goals would produce the same result, this strategy did not make me feel so heavy or defeated. In contrast to feeling difficult, the goal felt achievable if I committed.

Notice the shift that occurred. My thoughts changed my mindset from a limiting belief to an empowering belief. Fear, doubt and resistance were still present but not in such an overwhelming way.

In my opinion, making this shift in your mindset is critical if you want to achieve pretty much any goal in life. Start with how you talk to yourself. Find ways to transform your limiting beliefs to empowering beliefs and see what happens. You just may astound yourself at what you are actually capable of and learn that anything is possible.

Fear, doubt and resistance are really good at their jobs producing limiting beliefs, but you can counter them by producing empowering beliefs. Give it a try!

P.S. - I started the year at 280 pounds. This morning I weighed in at 257. When I lose two more pounds by Tuesday (months end), I will perfectly be at my goal after five months!

Key lesson: Transform limiting beliefs into empowering ones by setting goals your mind accepts as achievable.

Summary: Micro-goals turned an overwhelming 60-pound target into believable 5-pound months.
