Timeless
I think I'll have more of that please.

Why do I love hosting personal development retreats so much? Because they bring out the best in people and that is inspiring and a joyful to experience.

When you put a group of individuals under one roof in a beautiful setting for a week, working on improving areas of their life, something magical happens. Everyone checks their attitudes at the door. They leave their drama behind. They show up as the best version of themselves. Their authentic selves.

I’ve lost count as to how many retreats I’ve hosted over the past four years but it’s approaching forty. Since each retreat has anywhere from 12 to 18 customers and staff, that’s a pretty good sized subset of folks to draw a few conclusions. After all, they have been pretty diverse, from all walks of life, strong mix of ethnicities, married, divorced, single, pretty much equal on the gender side and varied careers.

I can only think of one instance where a customer created any drama by saying something unkind to another customer. Seriously! One time. I can’t get through thirty seconds on Facebook without reading a post or comment of someone berating, judging or threatening someone else.

So yaeh, being in a setting where I get to experience people at their best is appealing to me. It produces one of my favorite ways to get paid - in goosebump moments. I think I’ll have more of that please.

Key lesson: Beautiful settings bring out people's authentic best selves.

Summary: Explains why he loves hosting retreats: people at their best, paid in goosebumps.
