Timeless
To showcase how much transformation can come from just one commitment.

Five years ago I heard a faint whisper that joy, self-love and peace could be achieved in one of two ways. One, by following one’s bliss. Two, by mastering presence. Being a life long Dreamer, it made sense to tackle the one I actually understood first. I would pursue Bliss!

I started a personal development retreat company with my best friend Patrick Combs and named it Bliss Champions. I tasted bliss so many times in its first year that I created an investment fund and named it Bliss Investments. I became obsessed with helping others do the same.

At the beginning of year two, our company produced a stage performance and called it Bliss Talks. I got to give a talk and interview my bliss hero Laird Hamilton. The founder of Ugg Brian Smith gave the final talk. The entire experience was pure joy.

Over the next two years, our investment fund provided $1,000,000 in investment capital to graduates of Bliss Champions to help them on their chosen Bliss Journeys.

In year three, I invested in a beautiful oceanfront property in Hawaii and named it Bliss Island. I hosted a dozen retreats there since we opened this past June. Three of them were presented by Bliss Champions, providing so many goosebumps moments that I’ve lost count. During all this, I also co-authored my first book. It was on following your bliss of coarse. Seeing a theme yet?

At the end of year three, my wife and l acquired a beachfront property in Destin, Florida. To Lori, it’s the crown jewel in her budding AirBnB empire. To me, it’s the Bliss Villa and future home to more inspirational retreats. A true win-win for us both.

Why tell this story? To showcase how much transformation can come from just one commitment. In my case, to follow my bliss.

To begin year four, feeling that I have following my bliss pretty wired, I finally began a presence practice. I had the good fortune of having a business partner who spent seven plus years mastering presence. So I did the smart thing and hired him. Add teacher to his already earned titles of business partner, co-investor and best friend.

I’m only a couple sessions in, but I already can sense the potential for sourcing more joy, self-love and peace through this practice, all while doing absolutely nothing at all except be present (which is way harder than it sounds). It’s potential is unlimited.

What are you committed to in 2022? Is it a “soft maybe” or a “I’m freaking doing this” kinda commitment? You can completely transform your life in no time at all, if you are truly willing to commit to what you desire.

If it gives you courage and momentum to state it here, it’s greatly encouraged. I’ll be one your biggest cheerleader.

Key lesson: One commitment — to follow your bliss — can transform an entire life.

Summary: Recounts five years of following his bliss, then choosing presence as 2022's commitment.
