Day 17 of My 22 Day Adventure In Italy
I typically write my post the morning after each day experienced, but tonight I can’t wait to share about what I discovered.
I made my first friend in Chiavari (besides Matteo). Her name is Michaela. She and her husband have been running a lovely pastry shop/café/bar for decades. But even more impressive is that her family has operated the café 200 years. Yes, you heard that right.
Most businesses in America start their downfall in year eight, so to make it 200 years is incredibly impressive. And I know why they’ve made it 200 years, because I just discovered it yesterday and I’ve already been back three times.
The customer service is incredible. All the staff are super friendly. And the value they give you for a euro is fantastic. Just ordering one drink gets you everything in the photo below.
To celebrate their 200th anniversary they actually rented the retail store next-door and set up a museum featuring all of their food & beverage making equipment over the centuries. She took me on a personal tour introducing me to her great great grandparents who have long since passed.
The copper espresso machine below is over 100 years old and still works. I will visit this place every day until I leave just on principal. From one entrepreneur to another, nothing could impress me more.
