Day 11 of a 22 Day Adventure in Italy
Today our group took a boat ride along the Italian Riviera. We made two stops along the way. Our first stop was in the famed seaside town of Portofino and the second in the lessor known San Fruttuoso.
In Portofino everything is so picturesque that you can simply walk around for a half hour doing nothing but taking pictures and having an amazing time.
I lead a group of hard-core gelato enthusiasts straight to one of the best gelato stations in all of Italy. We were handsomely rewarded for our gluttonous cravings. I went for chocolate, vanilla and pistachio. Yum!!!!
Once we jumped back on our chauffeured boats, we headed over to the unique seaside town called San Fruttuoso, which can only be accessed by boat. There we anchored, had lunch with some Prosecco on the boat and enjoyed some really lovely swimming and snorkeling.
After returning home from our boat trip, we did something very unique and very un-Italian. We took our group out for BBQ at the Smokehouse Bar & Grill. The proprietor‘s name is Wally. I am absolutely certain I’ve never met anyone as passionate about serving great barbecue as this man. Pictures adorned the walls showcasing his myriad of awards as the number one Grillmaster in all of Italy.
Why BBQ? If you’ve ever vacationed in Italy 🇮🇹 you understand the need for a break from pasta & cheese. As much as we love it, the American gut needs its protein too. Tonight was designed to give our group that break, any boy was it delicisious.
I have enjoyed great BBQ in the most famous joints around America and I would honesty put Wally’s skill set up amongst them all.
It was another lovely day in Italy. 🇮🇹
