Why Culinary Oasis Now
A few people have asked me recently some version of the same question: “Why are you doing this now?”
It’s a fair question. Because on the surface, nothing is broken. Hamakua Hotel is working. Waterfalling Estate is working. Both real estate assets are appreciating. We’ve built something really special. But I’ve learned over time that some of the best decisions aren’t made when something is wrong. They’re made when something is ready to evolve.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve felt that shift happening. Not all at once, but gradually. What started as individual properties began to feel like something that could be connected. Something that could grow into a collection.
At the same time, I’ve changed. My energy is different. My focus is sharper. My health transformation has given me a level of clarity and drive that I haven’t felt in years. And when those two things happen at the same time - when the opportunity expands and you expand with it - that’s usually not something to ignore.
I’ve spent the better part of the last nine months exploring this. Looking at hundreds of properties, walking through dozens in person, and saying no far more than yes. Somewhere along the way, it stopped feeling like an idea and started feeling inevitable. That’s usually my signal.
So this isn’t a reaction. It’s not a pivot. And it’s definitely not a rush. It’s the next step - built on everything we’ve already done, but aimed at something bigger, more connected, and more intentional.
I don’t know exactly how it will all unfold yet. But I do know this… I am excited. I am energized. And most importantly, I am all in.
