**Why Culinary?**
Over the years I’ve stayed at many beautiful hotels around the world. Stunning architecture. Incredible views. Perfectly designed rooms. And yet something interesting happens in most of them.
Guests check in, admire the property… and then leave to go somewhere else for dinner. They go searching for the best restaurant in town.
That simple observation reveals something important. The most memorable part of travel is rarely the room.
It’s the **table**.
It’s the meal that lasts three hours.
It’s the conversation that unfolds over wine.
It’s the moment when everyone looks up and realizes they don’t want the evening to end.
Food has a way of slowing time down. It brings people together in a way very few other experiences can. Over the past couple of years, my appreciation for this truth deepened dramatically.
Many of you followed Lori and I during our time in Paris while attending culinary school at **École Ducasse**. Immersing ourselves in that world, surrounded by chefs who dedicate their lives to the craft, changed the way I think about hospitality forever.
I began to see that the most extraordinary destinations combine two things:
Awe-inspiring environments and extraordinary culinary experiences.
When those two elements come together, something magical happens.
Guests don’t just stay.
They **linger**.
They connect.
They remember.
That idea is the philosophy behind the brand we are building: **Culinary Oasis**.
Places where remarkable environments and remarkable cuisine come together to create experiences that people talk about for the rest of their lives.
**Villa Riviera** on the Italian Riviera is one example.
**Hamakua Hotel** on the cliffs of Hawaii is another.
And there are more extraordinary places ahead that fit this philosophy beautifully. Because in the end, the places we remember most are rarely defined by buildings alone. They’re defined by the experiences we share there.
