Day 58 of 60 | Bonjour, Paris 🇫🇷🥐🍫
My strength trainer Titus gave me exactly one rule before I left for Paris:
👉 One chocolate croissant per month.
No small ask for a recovering chocoholic.
Now… let’s address the elephant (or pastry) in the room.
On Day One at École Ducasse, during a simple “practice visit,” an executive walks up to us and says - literally his first words:
“Would you like a chocolate croissant?”
At a French culinary school.
Offered by an executive.
Over coffee.
What was I supposed to do? Say no and insult the entire nation of France?
I nodded politely. Smiled. Picked at it like a monk testing temptation.
In my defense: I did not eat the croissant.
I merely extracted the chocolate from the center.
Still counts.
So that was one down. Clock reset. 30 more days.
Except… I didn’t just survive another 30 days.
I survived 58 DAYS.
Fifty-eight days in Paris.
Surrounded by butter, chocolate, laminated dough, and judgment.
Which gave me plenty of time to research.
I scouted.
I observed.
I built a relationship.
I found the one.
For weeks, I stopped by this bakery just to say hello. Sometimes I’d whisper, “Soon.”
This was no longer a pastry. This was a commitment.
Today… the moment arrived.
Lori suggested four other places to eat.
Absolutely not.
I was focused. Determined. Locked in.
I walked in and the lovely pastry chef asked (in French),
“Bonjour, qu’est-ce que vous désirez?”
I proudly replied:
“Un croissant au chocolat.”
She said,
“We don’t have chocolate croissants.”
I calmly pointed and said:
👉 “Whatever that GIANT thing is.”
Same difference.
So yes, this is me enjoying my first chocolate croissant in 58 days… by choice.
Now, technically, that might be six chocolate croissants rolled into one.
But who’s counting besides Titus? 🤣
Try coming to Paris and skipping pastries for 58 days.I’ll take the win. 😎🥐🍫
