Day 5 of 60 | Bonjour, Paris! 🇫🇷✨Caffeine Quests & Chocolate Croissant Confessions
With the great “heist” behind us, we woke up focused on our daily mission: to uncover the best coffee in the 7th arrondissement. No more lazy sips, we doubled down, hitting one spot in the morning and another in the afternoon. Okay fine, four spots total. It got serious.
We struck gold at Torre Coffee Shop & Roaster, where they serve beans straight from Brazil, and let me tell you, the photos don’t even do it justice. This place rocketed to the top of our list. Rich, balanced, bold. Absolute bliss.
Next up was Noir Coffee Shop, which also impressed. But then came the famous Coutume, a place everyone and their Parisian poodle recommends. The execution? Flawless. The taste? Let’s just say the beans had… personality. Too much of it. Not quite our flavor profile.
Finally, we stopped by Bleu Coffee Shop. Coffee-wise? Meh. But the vibe? Top notch. Cozy, inviting—like being wrapped in a soft sweater made of Parisian charm.
So the quest continues. With school starting this Friday, we’ve still got a long list of cafés to explore and only a few days left to rank them all.
Next Operation: Find the Cooking School
Today was also our dry run to campus. Option A: Bus + Metro. About an hour total. But after just 15 minutes on that bus, I was already dreaming of Option B: Uber. Yes, it’s 20 euros vs. 4.5… but thanks to the aforementioned “heist,” we can splurge a bit. And let’s be real, I’m not commuting in chef whites while sardined into a Metro bus when a private car will get me there in twenty minutes. 😂
We arrived to warm hospitality. The moment we stepped through the doors of one of the most prestigious cooking schools in the world, we were offered drinks and a bite. Obviously we said yes. You don’t say no to a culinary institution that has “legendary” in its DNA.
Two lattes appeared, and let me just say: they instantly dethroned everything we’ve had on our coffee tour of the 7th. Then came the real test of willpower - a chocolate croissant, handcrafted by students under the guidance of the GOAT himself, Chef Alain Ducasse.
Now, I had promised myself: no croissants. My trainer suggested one per month as more reasonable. But Lori was already giggling at my internal battle while demolishing hers. I stared at mine. I moved it. I avoided eye contact. I gave it a gentle side-eye.
Then our host reappeared with a chef in full whites. Presumably our chef teacher. Game on.
In a panic, I executed a flawless pastry swap, trading my untouched croissant for Lori’s mostly eaten one. She took the hint and wolfed it down like a pro. Crisis averted.
Chef Tony Salomon (Instagram handle @chef_tony.salomon) introduced himself, and as we chatted, I couldn’t help but notice the oozing chocolate left behind on my plate. It stared into my soul. Whispered sweet, buttery lies. And the second we wrapped up the convo?
Gone. Devoured. No photo. Zero regrets.
So, to sum up:
✔️ Best coffee? Found—so far.
✔️ School? Located. Commute? Negotiable.
✔️ Croissant discipline? Failed spectacularly.
Gym tonight. 100%
À bientôt! 🍫☕🇫🇷
