Day 3 of 60 | Bonjour, Paris! 🇫🇷✨

Coffee Quests & Tequila Triumphs

Let’s get one thing straight: Lori and I are no strangers to Paris. We’ve waltzed through the Louvre, picnicked under the Eiffel Tower, enjoyed French wines along the River Seine and probably eaten our body weight in chocolate croissants, many times over. So no, this isn’t your classic “first time in Paris” travelogue full of wide-eyed tourist tales.

Instead, this little series is about something else entirely: what it’s like to actually live here on our budget. We know it’s not the typical budget and that our approach to this experience might look different than how others choose to travel or spend extended time abroad, and that’s perfectly okay.

We’ve earned the freedom to choose how and where we spend our time, and this chapter is about leaning into that fully, unapologetically, and without pretense.

Our lifestyle may not resonate with everyone, and that’s perfectly okay. What matters most is that it’s honest and aligned with who we are today. We’re not trying to impress, just to express and share. And hopefully, inspire a little along the way.

So, with that disclaimer out of the way, this is not just a visit. Not just a dip in for a long weekend. But to unpack our lives (and gym clothes & supplements), settle in, and try to make a little magic in the City of Light, one Parisian twist at a time.

Now don’t get us wrong. We’re not trying to recreate our Miami lifestyle here. That chapter was wonderful and transformative in its own right. But we are carrying over the parts that made us feel great, just repackaged with a little French flair, maybe a beret or two.

Enter: Day 3.

It was a rainy Sunday, the kind that practically begs you to slow down, breathe deeply, and listen to the city in a softer tone. But before we did any of that, we had one repeat mission: find an even better cup of coffee in the 7th arrondissement than yesterday. Ambitious? Always.

Today’s caffeine crusade took us to the furthest edge of our district, to a spot called Certified Café. Picture this: laptops open, earbuds in, pastries disappearing at alarming speed. It’s more digital nomad hangout than romantic sidewalk café, but wow….the coffee! Absolute rocket fuel for the soul. (For our Bay Area friends: Think Blue Bottle, but with a little French sass.)

We gave it a slight edge over yesterday’s darling, Terres de Café, at least in terms of taste. But for charm, ambience, and that certain “ooh la la” factor? Yesterday still has our hearts and warrants many return visits. 99.9% the two lovely barista’s will remember us! Less than 1% chance they will at Certified Cafe, but we will remember their coffee!

Post-coffee, the weather and our slightly tired state convinced us it was time to embrace the art of the lazy Sunday. But before we went all in on that sentiment, we squeezed in a marathon 2-hour gym session that could’ve doubled as an Olympic trial (the new us), then spent the rest of the day recovering like pros. Couch, cozy clothes, zero regrets.

Important Development of the Day:

I FOUND MY FAVORITE TEQUILA IN PARIS.

Yes, in the land of Bordeaux and Burgundy, I managed to sniff out a bottle of blue agave perfection. To all my wine-loving friends, je suis désolé, but the tequila train is still running full steam ahead. Old me may have raised a glass of red, but new me? New me says salud, not santé.

So there you have it. A rainy Sunday full of good coffee, important finds, and the joy of doing almost nothing at all, except for the marathon workout that might have broken my

‘hors de forme’ self! Sometimes, that’s the most magical kind of day.

Note that we store our tequila with our other important health ingredients!

À demain, friends.
