Day 1 of 60 | Bonjour, Paris! 🇫🇷✨
After a 6-hour-ish redeye from NYC, we’ve officially landed in the land of croissants, great wine, and world-class cuisine!
Let’s start here: flying business class on Air France is basically like sneaking into first class on any other airline. I slept like a baby and honestly wouldn’t have minded a few extra hours up in the clouds. Weird, I know.
Despite all the EU buzz around a new digital passport system, the only real difference I noticed was that the immigration officers have been replaced by AI. Their main human contribution? One very satisfying passport stamp. ✅ Merci, robot overlords.
We cruised from Charles de Gaulle to our new place in about an hour and were unpacking by 3 PM. Apartment hunting from the States was… let’s call it “an adventure.” Turns out, chic Parisian interiors on rental sites are more like relics from the 1800s. But after hours of online sleuthing, we struck gold. This apartment? Chef’s kiss. (Photos below)
Then came the real question: Where is the Eiffel Tower?! I kid you not, for the SECOND time in my life I said, “It should be around here somewhere,” only to have Lori tap me on the shoulder and say, “Um… turn around.” And boom, there it was, towering over us like the beautiful, majestic iron giant it is. It’s literally behind our apartment building. Yes, I might do push-ups off it every morning. 💪
In just a few short hours, we joined a gym, found a local butcher, discovered a bounty of fresh fruit at neighborhood markets, and of course, drank enough espresso to keep us awake until 2043. ☕☕🤣
It’s now 8 PM, the jet lag is setting in, and the only thing holding me upright is the two double shots I downed two hours ago. 🙈 But hey, that’s what Day 1 is all about - landing, laughing, exploring, and accidentally walking right past the most famous monument in the world (again).
