Day 39 of 60 Day Sugar Only Diet
Turning to starches to settle my insides after a bought with diarrhea was not an enjoyable experience yesterday. It culminated with stomach issues at my leg work last night. It was one of the top two hardest workouts of my life, so not ideal to be hurting in my tummy during it. However, let’s talk about what happened after!
When I got back from my leg work out around 5:30 pm I was compleletely annihilated. All I could muster was a 30-minute nap. Next, I decided to walk to the nearest grocery store in search of pineapple or kiwis to help settle my stomach. I decided I had enough with the starch play and that is all I had in my fridge from my grocery shopping the day before. The walk was only a few blocks, but it was challenging cause I was so gassed from my workout. At times, I honestly felt like I might throw up.
The pineapple instantly helped settle my ailing stomach. And although I did seriously consider getting an Uber for the half mile trip home 🤣, it gave me just enough energy to stumble home.
I remained lethargic until about 8:30 pm. Around that time, my energy levels came alive and I cranked out some impressive work till 10:30 PM. As I don’t normally work at night, I was surprised at my effectiveness. I definitely could’ve kept going for a few more hours, but decided to settle down for a good night sleep.
I woke up this morning feeling amazing for the first time since the weekend before I started having stomach issues on Monday. I also felt like my physique had undergone a major metamorphosis from the intense leg workout.
I decided to weigh myself and got greeted with the wonderful news that I am now down to 215 pounds from 235 lbs since I began weight training 8 weeks ago. I am now just 5 pounds from my goal of 210 lbs. I have not been this light since my junior year of college!
More good news is that my body fat has now dropped to 26% from my starting point of 30%. Also, I have now gained 7 pounds of muscle from my workouts and nutrition experimentation. On the blood sugar front I woke up with a great score of 85 this morning.
From my last few disturbing posts, some of you may have started to disagree with what I put my body through. Thank you for caring. However, I can assure you of one thing. Overcoming some stomach issues, or suffering a tad while experimenting different types of nutrition plans, or needing to rest after a very challenging weight training session are very small sacrifices compared to waking up in a hospital bed 300 pounds sick and scared. I remember those emotions too!
Tough couple days, but I’ll take the wins and will keep challenging myself to continue learning and maximizing my health!
