Feels great to be back living in Brickell, Miami again. Lori and I got settled into our new place this week. Same building as before, new unit.
I did not waste any time restarting my Miami morning health ritual. This includes sleeping in till about 8 am (rather than my standard 5 am wake up in Hawaii). How much prefer this!
After reading a bit of national news to stay informed, but not enough to become jaded or depressed, I head down to our buildings gym/spa for a cold plunge. I typically do a 20-minute session every morning. Longer than most, but hugely beneficial to my body.
Once out of the plunge, I quickly get dressed in my work out gear and go outside for an hour long walk in the sun to dethaw and exercise. Staying cold rather than jumping in a hot shower or in the hot tub, maximizes the benefit of the cold plunge in the terms of inflammation reduction & energy. I am so cold at the start of walks in fact, that I can actualy feel some of the bones in my feet. 🧊 Interesting enough, it is a presence practice technique to be able to pay attentions to your feet while walking. This certainly does the trick!
After my morning walk, I head over to Whole Foods on foot, which is just two blocks from my residence. Typically, I shop just for the day and the next morning. I do this so that my nutrition continues to be one of the most important decisions I make each day rather than an afterthought. I don’t just wanna just eat what’s leftover in the fridge. I want to eat what’s optimum for my health each day.
Nutrition wise, I go full carnivore three days a week, consuming only proteins and facts. On the in between days, I only consume fruits and fibers. On the seventh day I eat what I want. Espresso is a constant in my life, but I’ve learned not to have it so early in the morning and typically wait till my morning routine ends before I have it. I have retrained my brain to see it as a reward for working out rather than a “must have” when I first wake up.
This week I’m going to begin introducing a set of calisthenics that I will do most days outside after my walk to firm up my body and build strength. I’m not much of a gym person so I won’t be hitting the weights any time soon. That’s my wife’s jam, not mine! I’m after a routine that I’m gonna commit to and do on a regular basis. I will let you all know my routine once I establish it.
Typically, I don’t start working until around noon Eastern Time. This is when my Hawaii customers, venders and colleagues just begin to wake up. I love this so much! I have a six hour headstart each day. This allows me to dedicate 100% of my mornings to my peace, health and joy. Like like writing this post for instance! 😎
For those of you that are wondering how my weight has fared since my 40-day water only fast culminated in early December. Since ending my fast at 215 lbs, my 60+ pound weight loss has remained steady in the 220’s over the last six months. I’m very proud of this result and I’m comfortable at this weight range. If I start to creep towards 230, I know to kick it into gear!
Feels amazing to wake up, feeling healthy every day! Do you want this for yourself? All you need to do is decide that tomorrow is going to be the day that you can commit. I will be cheering for you!
