Drove to my favorite local cafe in Hilo, Hawaii.

Had a challenging day. Nothing I can’t handle. Drove to my favorite local cafe in Hilo, Hawaii. The barrista noticed my unusual less than cheerful mood and asked me what my favorite animal was. I thought the question strange but answered a cheetah. She then asked if I had to choose between a bear, an octopus and a pig, which animal would I most want to see in the café today. I thought about it, happy for the distraction from my crappy day, and chose a bear. I then said that my reason for choosing a bear is that my day was so shitty, why not end it with a bear in a cafe. Total chaos! Then, she smiled, and served me this coffee. 😎 A beautiful reminder that it doesn’t take much to show kindness to someone when they are feeling down. I am grateful.

Key lesson: On hard days, a familiar cafe and kind barista are medicine.

Summary: Had a challenging day; drove to his favorite Hilo cafe for comfort.
