My life experiences have taught me that avoidance is a strategic choice made by many to avoid pain and suffering.
If you are unfamiliar with this word, avoidance is the act of keeping away from or withdrawing from something undesirable. Synonyms of avoidance include: dodging, shunning, turning away, evasion, eluding, eschewal, and ducking.
Since just about every post I make in this group is intended to inspire you to take action on something you desire, it stands to reason that I would not be a fan of this strategy. I am using the word strategy instead of behavior intentionaly.
However, there is a version of avoidance that I see as a major character flaw. It is when a person messes up badly and instead of owning their mistakes, they disappear to avoid taking any responsibility. I am not ok with this. Unfortunately, it is all too common.
Today I meet with such a person. In fact, he represents the most egregious example of this in my entire lifetime. Due to his preference for avoidance as a strategy, I have lost all trust in his word.
Integrity is the value I hold most dear. I have found that the strongest triggers occur when you encounter a person that behaves in a opposite way to one of your core values.
If avoidance is a tactic you use in your life when you make mistakes, my life experiences have taught me that it always compounds the mistake and makes it far worse.
People don’t mind hearing that you messed up. Often they will fall behind you, and even show love for an honest person, regardless of what mistake they make. However, when you avoid telling the truth, it becomes a betrayal that can become unforgivable.
Wish me luck today! I will trust my heart to find grace and my presence practice to keep my peace, but I will also lean on my integrity to protect myself.
