Our first week as residents of Miami is complete. What have Lori and I learned thus far? It’s checking all our boxes!
We picked Miami for its vibrancy, diversity, weather, beauty and amazing food scene. While both our locations check the warm weather and beauty boxes, Miami is the perfect counter to the Big Island in these other areas.
For starters, the food scene is off the charts great. You would have to relocate to Paris, Tokyo or to various hot spots in Italy 😎 to find its rival. NYC dominated for decades but not any more. The best chefs in America have pretty much all opened up restaurants here. I realize that this is just my opinion, but come visit and I’ll prove it to you.
In terms of vibrancy, every month there are major city wide events that bring something unique to an already vibrant year-round culture. I happened upon Art Basel Miami Beach my first week in town, one of its more colorful annual events. I’ve got tickets to see the Heat play the Bulls this week. And, just walking around my new neighborhood of Brickell has been a treat.
Miami is truly a melting pot for so many ethnicities that I don’t even know where to begin on the subject of diversity. Other than NYC, Miami is the most diverse city that I’ve ever lived in.
Another reason my first week in Miami went so well is that I left my car in the garage. Driving here is definitely an adventure. In some parts I would define it as a blood sport! Good thing the neighborhood we chose to live in is walkable.
That’s my week one update, in case you’re interested.
