There are three keys to happiness. Having something to do, someone to love and something to look forward to.

I read something interesting last night that I want to share, cause I find it to be very wise and true. Here it is:

“There are three keys to happiness. Having something to do, someone to love and something to look forward to.”

Why do I appreciate this so much? Well, from my posts, you know that I believe that there are two pathways to enlightenment ( = joy, self-love, peace). They are doing and being.

Follow your bliss, do cool shit, live your dreams, these all fit in the bucket of doing.

Presence practice, becoming the Observer of your thoughts, breath work, meditation, are all things that fall into the bucket of being.

In my opinion, happiness is different from joy and peace. However, it does crossover with self-love. I see self-love as gifts you give yourself to be happy, experience joy and/or be at peace.

I resonate with the above theory about happiness cause it speaks to being and feeling fully alive. I do feel happy and full when I have something to do, someone to love and something to look forward to.

I’m less happy when I don’t have something I want to do, don’t feel loved, and don’t have anything I’m looking forward to.

Seems like a good formula for success. Not too complicated either.

Key lesson: Happiness comes from having something to do, someone to love, and something to look forward to.

Summary: A quote on happiness's three keys sparks his reflection on doing versus being, and how happiness differs from joy and peace.
