Timeless
All because I watched a video on Facebook and allowed myself to be inspired.

Are you unhappy a lot? Do you feel your joy meter is down? So much can change in just a short period of time if we allow ourselves to be inspired. Inspiration can fuel our desires. It allows us to awaken. Once we are fully awake, anything is possible with commitment.

I had just turned 47 when I first heard the word ‘Bliss’. It was said during a live video on Facebook by my old friend Patrick Combs. I remember being so inspired by what he was talking about that I actually looked up the word online. The definition I found said it meant “perfect happiness & great joy”. This sounded really good to me. It inspired a desire to experience more joy in my life.

By age 47 I had achieved a lot. I was happily married and newly rich, but I was an unhealthy 310 pounds, exhausted all the time, unhappy often, and had stopped dreaming. My joy meter was not just low, it was flatlined. And worst of all, I didn’t know why or how to fix it. Until I heard the word bliss that day.

I’ll turn 52 this October. This will mark the five year point of when I made a commitment to follow my bliss seeking more aliveness and joy in my life. Due to this inspiration, I finally fulfilled a dream I had for 31 years. I sold my California home and bought a beautiful resort property in Hawaii where I can inspire people. I named it Bliss Island.

I have a beautiful second home on a gorgeous white sand beach in Destin, Florida where I can unwind, slow down, and focus on my health & fitness during my off season from running the resort. This allows me to support my wife’s dream to become a short term vacation rental Queen. I call this home Bliss Villa.

I have started a half dozen companies with the name bliss in it. Joy was the primary motivation for each.

I co-wrote and published my first book with the very person who introduced me to bliss - Patrick Combs. In case your wondering, it’s about bliss.

Also with Patrick, I will have run 19 Bliss Champion retreats by my birthday in October. The 18th one starts in three days.

I have hosted another 15 or so retreats at my properties for people wanting their own bliss experiences.

I have dreamed up and crushed multiple worthwhile bliss journeys.

I have invested in a dozen companies run by Blisspreneurs committed to their bliss.

I have personally mentored or co-coached over 175 people to follow their bliss in 4+ years.

Patrick Combs became my best guy friend.

And best of all, my best female friend and wife Lori Lochtefeld and I gained freedom from the grind we had created that was crippling our mental and physical health. With our second chance, we chose to gift ourselves joy. We will celebrate 15 years of blissful marriage this September.

I could not be more excited to experience the rest of my fifties fully awake and alive!

That’s a lot of progress in just under five years. All because I watched a video on Facebook and allowed myself to be inspired. I’m gonna keep writing to you until one of my posts does the same for you. I will try every approach until one works. I will not quit on you!

The point of my posts is not to highlight my life or make you think I’m significant. I’m not special. I’m just really inspired. You can be too.

Key lesson: Allowing yourself to be inspired can transform everything within five years.

Summary: Five years after hearing the word 'bliss' at 47: from 310 pounds and stalled dreams to a joy-centered life.
