Timeless
you might as well focus your career on getting what you actually desire.

Why is vacation so yummy? Because it brings out a different version of yourself. It is an invitation to have a grand adventure. You feel you have the opportunity to be playful, restful, and exciting. Anything you desire really.

This is because your focus is on creating moments that make you feel happy and joyful (the definition of bliss ,by the way, is perfect happiness and great joy). You realize that you have a limited amount of time to experience as many desired moments as possible before you go home and get back to work (or as many call it, “back to reality”). So, you indulge in creating as many memorable moments as possible before your vacation ends. If your lucky, you have two weeks per year, but many have to settle for weekends.

But, what if you were to change your career mindset to match how you approach your vacations. What if, instead of focusing only on money or numbers as your career growth measurements, you instead re-wired yourself to put a larger emphasis on generating desired moments?

I’ve been deploying this hack for four plus years now. Ever since I left a very grinding career behind in Redwood City. These days, I spend time and energy on enjoying moments in the present and teeing up additional desired moments in the near future. I already have about thirty such moments created and on the calendar in 2022. I am so enthusiastically looking forward to them that I could just burst while invisioning them. This gives me a feeling of aliveness.

In fact, I employ a presence practice coach to work on my feelings of angst having to wait for all of them to occur. Isn’t that ironic? My edge (the personal development work I need to focus on) is to learn how to make my present moments feel less like waiting (translation: boring in comparison to my exciting future moments). Achieving this will be akin to inviting miracles into my life on a daily basis. This will allow any,and all moments, to be magical.

You can have this too, if you change what you focus on. You don’t have to be wealthy to have this either. I’m not talking about turning your life into a vacation. I’m talking about changing your focus on what you desire. I’m talking about being intentional about teeing up moments you desire more often so you live the life you want. If you are going to spend 8+ hours working for 261 days a year, you might as well focus your career on getting what you actually desire. This may require a career change or simp,y, a change in what you focus on.

I teach Entrepreneurs to become Blisspreneurs, by changing their growth measurements from $ and #’s to moments. But this will work for anyone, whether your a boss, an employee or contractor. Give this some thought. I have found that it delivers miracles. It can for you too.

Key lesson: Focus your career on generating desired moments, not just money and numbers.

Summary: Argues for treating your career like a vacation: design desired moments.
